Mariners Moose Tracks, 11/8/24: T.J. McFarland, Juan Soto, and Willy Adames
We didn’t get a Mets-Yankees World Series, but the Mets-Yankees Juan Soto sweepstakes might be the next-best thing.
Hello everyone and happy Friday! Let’s kick off the last day of the (standard) work week with some news from around baseball.
In Mariners news...
- At the GM Meetings, the baseball paparazzi spotted Jerry Dipoto talking to Cubs President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer. What could it mean? It’s a slow news week, I guess.
Around the league...
- The A’s have agreed to a one-year deal with left-hander T.J. McFarland.
- Alex Bregman is reportedly willing to move to second base if it means securing a better deal.
- Steve Cohen is planning to meet with Juan Soto and his agent Scott Boras next week as the long bidding war commences between the two New York squads.
- It’s no shocker, but the Mets continue to be aggressive on all of the top-end free agents of the class.
According to my sources, the #Mets have made an offer of over $160 million for a period of 7 years to Willy Adames. Their intention is for him to play third base; however, Adames is not convinced, as he prefers to continue in the shortstop position. He has not made a decision… pic.twitter.com/HB4JbuUHnH
