Third Annual All-American Women’s Baseball Classic a great success


The Comets won the third annual All-American Women’s Baseball Classic, which was held from 11 October to 13 October 2024 in Durham, North Carolina. The Comets defeated the Peaches 8-5 in the final game to claim first place. All games were broadcasted live through MLB.tv.



American
Girls Baseball was founded by Sue Zipay, who played for the Rockford Peaches of
the All-American Girl’s Professional Baseball League in 1953 and 1954. The event
was supported by the Durham Bulls, the AAA affiliated of the Tampa Bay Rays.



Four teams participated
in the event, Belles, Blue Sox, Comets, and Peaches. Following a single round
robin in the preliminary phase the top two teams met in the final with the Comets
edging out the Peaches. The Belles beat the Blue Sox to finish in third place.

Friday, 11 October 2024:
Belles – Comets 5-8
Peaches – Blue Sox 10-0



Saturday, 12 October 2024:
Blue Sox – Comets 1-2
Belles – Blue Sox 6-11
Comets – Peaches 1-2
Peaches – Belles 1-17



Sunday, 13 October 2024:
Blue Sox – Belles 1-4
Comets – Peaches 8-5

American Girls Baseball (AGB) was created as an affiliate organization of the All American Girl’s Professional Baseball League Players Association (AAGPBL PA) in 2019 to continue the legacy and purpose of this famous women’s professional league. The Vision: A professional baseball league for girls and women who want to have a future in that sport. The Purpose: To benefit all-female baseball players who want to have a choice between softball and baseball and provide them with opportunities to train, participate, and compete in the game of baseball at every level, including high school, college, and professional.
