My girlfriend kicked me out on the streets – how do I get her back?

Poor Homeless Man Lying on Bench Outdoors in City, Sleeping. Homelessness Social Issues Concept.

DEAR DEIDRE: MY girlfriend kicked me out after a row, leaving me to sleep on the streets.

I still love her and want her back. Should I wait for her to change her mind?

I’m 46 and she’s 44. We met online last year and I moved from another city to live with her in her place, six months ago.

Everything was wonderful until we had an argument about her ex and, for the first time, I shouted at her.

She didn’t give me a chance to apologise, literally throwing me out into the street.

I had nowhere to go and had to sleep on a park bench. After that, I had to find a hostel.

When I spoke to her, she said she felt differently about me after seeing a ‘different’ side to me, and it’s over.

She said I was dead to her.

I’ve been in such a state that the doctor has diagnosed me with depression. I’m now on medication.

I feel sure she’ll change her mind and we can put it behind us, but she’s blocked me on everything.

Am I stupid to give her space till she’s ready?

DEIDRE SAYS: Unfortunately, if she says it’s over and has blocked you, it’s unlikely she will change her mind.

All you can do is try to move on and rebuild your life. It will take time to heal.

Ask yourself if you really would want to be with someone who could so easily leave you without a roof over your head – after just one disagreement – and not care about the effect this had on you.

My support pack, Mending A Broken Heart, should help you to move on.
