Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki continues to unleash towering column of hot clouds
Hot ash and rocks continued to be thrown from Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki on Friday, four days after the volcano on Indonesia’s remote island of Flores erupted, killing nine people and injuring dozens of others. Volcanic activity has increased in recent days, with towering columns of ash recorded as high as 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). The authorities on Thursday expanded the danger zone to a radius of 8 kilometers forcing further evacuations and adding to the thousands of residents in at least 10 villages already affected by the disaster. No further casualties have been reported in the latest eruptions.
