Is Gone In 60 Seconds sequel real? Nanoseconds movie poster starring Nicholas Cage as Memphis Raines explained
RUMOURS have circulated that a Gone in 60 Seconds sequel is on its way after a Nanoseconds movie poster went viral.
The sequel starring Nicolas Cage would reprise his role as the car thief – but sadly the poster, and the idea of a second movie, is a hoax.

Gone in 60 Seconds is a 2000 action movie starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie.
Directed by Dominic Sena, the movie is a loose remake of the 1974 movie with the same name.
Nicolas Cage plays Randall “Memphis” Raines who’s a former car thief and comes out of retirement to steal 50 cars in exchange for his brother’s life.
This is because brother Kip is a car thief and works with his gang to steal 50 cars from a Brit gangster.
But after Kip accidentally leads cops to his crew’s warehouse and forces thieves to flee, he gets kidnapped for messing up the heist.
The kidnapper told Memphis that he planned to kill Kip in a car crusher.
In a deal to get his brother back, Memphis agrees to steal 50 cars within 72 hours.
But if they aren’t delivered on time, Kipp will be killed.
What is the hoax Gone in 60 Nanoseconds?
Gone in 60 Nanoseconds was alleged to be an upcoming sequal to the 2000 action movie but was proved to be a hoax.
The fake poster claimed actor Cage would reprise his role as the car thief Memphis Raines and would come to theatres in May 2025.
But there is no evidence that a real Gone in 60 Seconds sequal starring Cage was in the works in 2024.
The post went viral on social media, accumulating tens of thousands of reactions.
Some users saw the rumour as factual and said that they “can’t wait” for the sadly fake sequel.
The caption on the post reads: “In Gone in 60 Nanoseconds, retired master car thief Memphis Raines (Nicolas Cage) is drawn back into the underworld when a tech mogul steals priceless vintage cars for his illegal empire.
“With a new generation of thieves by his side, Memphis must outsmart cutting-edge security systems and rival gangs in a race against time to reclaim the stolen cars.
“As the clock ticks down, Memphis discovers that confronting his past is the only way to secure his future.”
However, a closer look at the Facebook page reveals that all the posts are completely false.
YODA BBY ABY states: “I’m just here to eat frogs, lift rocks and be satirical.
“The page is 100% satire and fake news.”
So sadly, it is very unlikely a sequel will come anytime soon.
