Dick Parr – deceased
The death has occurred of Dick Parr. Dick grew up in Roscrea and was educated at Wilson’s Hospital school. After school he worked for National Irish Bank in Dublin and joined Old Wesley. He quickly established himself as a rugged back row player playing for the 2nds and 3rds. He captained the 2nds before winning a 3rds league medal in 1983. After retiring from playing Dick managed the 2nd XV, including the team that won the double in 1990. He was lured out of retirement to travel and play on the Oldies tour to South Africa in 1998. His interests outside rugby included horseracing and greyhound racing.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Shirley and children Andrea and Gavin.
