HGTV Star Jasmine Roth’s 4-Year-Old Daughter Had the Cutest Reaction To Meeting Her Baby Sister — But Was Dissatisfied With One Thing

Becoming a big sister is a big responsibility. For HGTV star Jasmine Roth’s 4-year-old daughter Hazel, her first order of business is making a slight change to a decision her parents made — and it is too cute!

The Hidden Potential star, who shares Hazel and newborn Darla Rose with husband Brett Roth, shared a video of Hazel meeting her baby sis for the first time in the hospital. “I wanna see my sis! I call her sis.” Hazel excitedly said in the video on Instagram. The preschooler is dressed in a light gray hoodie with shorts and white sneakers. She has glasses on and her long blonde hair pulled back from her face as she holds onto a little stuffed animal.

Brett asked if she wanted to know the baby’s name, and Hazel responded that “Sis is her other nickname,” before adding, “Yeah, I want to know her name!”

“So we’re going to tell you the name, and then you get to tell the rest of the family once you remember it,” Jasmine said. “You ready? Her name is Darla Rose Roth.”

She stares silently at her mom for a minute, then repeats it. “What do you think?” Jasmine asks.

“Well, I’ll be calling her Melody,” Hazel responds matter-of-factly, making her mom laugh. Oh, kids!

In the caption, Jasmine wrote, “’Well, I’ll be calling her Melody’ ???????????? Who remembers when we first told her we were pregnant? The best big sis. ????”

She continued, “Lots of questions about Darla’s name and there isn’t a big story around it. We never tell anyone the name ahead of time because if we can settle on a name, we don’t want to take the chance of anyone ruining it for us. Neither of us have ever known a ‘Darla’ so that was a good start! Let’s be honest, naming people is TOUGH!”

People could relate in the comments. “I used to call my sibling ‘Lola’ because I didn’t like the name my parents picked out. Interesting choice to call my baby brother,” one person wrote. Someone else said, “???????????? I’ll be calling her Melody … ???? when I had the youngest of mine my son wanted to call the baby Fonzie after The Fonz! ???? Thankfully the baby was a girl, whom we called Jennifer, but my son still insisted on calling her Fonzie for ages.????????”

Apparently, it’s pretty common for older siblings to call their younger siblings by different names. Like Bindi Irwin, who called her brother Robert “Brian” when he was a baby!

Baby Darla was born one month premature, and stayed in the hospital for 15 days before she could come home. She shared several pictures of Hazel helping her mom feed baby Darla with a bottle, writing, “Hazel is the best big sis and Darla loves her attention.” It’s clear they’re already best friends!
