UPDATE, 11/7/24, 11:30 a.m.: Two people have been arrested in connection with this shooting, according to Opelousas Police.
Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service, arrested two people in Alexandria early this morning, officials said. The names of the people arrested or their charges have not yet been released.
The investigation remains active, and further details will be provided as they become available, authorities said.
ORIGINAL STORY: OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- An investigation is underway after one person was killed and another injured in a shooting Sunday in Opelousas, according to police.
According to Opelousas police, the shooting happened on Ina Claire Drive in Opelousas.
Two people were shot. One person died and the other person, who is in serious condition, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
