The picturesque island offers nearly 10 acres of unspoiled land, rugged scenery, and exclusive wildlife encounters.

Eilean Loch Oscair, located off Scotland’s west coast, presents a rare chance to own a private island in one of the most untouched parts of the Inner Hebrides.

Uninhabited and only accessible by boat, Eilean Loch Oscair is just a short journey from the Isle of Lismore, where connections to the mainland make it a relatively reachable escape.

The island’s landscape provides ample space for farming, allowing prospective owners to support livestock or grow crops in a true off-grid setting.

Estate agent Tom Stewart Moore said: “It’s a hop, skip and a jump from Lismore.

“It’s an island off a slightly bigger island, so you feel you’re in a far-flung place, but you’re actually fairly accessible”.

Wildlife is abundant, with otters, seals, porpoises, and sea birds frequently visiting the island, creating a natural paradise for environmental enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Previously owned by a tenant farmer who acquired the property in 2013, the island had been considered for an off-grid holiday development.

Eilean Loch Oscair is not alone in attracting potential buyers; several other Scottish islands have appeared on the market in recent months, showing that private island ownership in the UK is not just for the ultra-rich.

In May, Tors Island, a larger island spanning 270 acres, was listed at £1.5 million, marking its first sale in 85 years.

Meanwhile, in July, Copinsay Island, complete with a lighthouse keeper’s house, went up for sale at £80,000, sparking interest in remote properties across the UK.

Another notable sale this year was Sanda Island, which was sold to a mystery buyer for £2.5 million.

Sanda, located off the Mull of Kintyre, features seven residential buildings, including the Byron Darnton Tavern, a former pub established by previous owners for boating visitors.

Sanda Island has a rich history, having once belonged to Cream’s bassist Jack Bruce and later inspiring Sir Paul McCartney and Wings.

Its new owner inherits a functioning farm with 55 black-faced sheep, known for keeping the island’s vegetation in check, as well as stunning views of the Antrim Hills and nearby Arran.

The island’s historical connections also include visits from Scottish King Robert the Bruce and Norway’s King Hakon.

Temple Weir Island on the River Thames is another recent listing, priced at £75,000.

Located near Marlow, Buckinghamshire, this tiny island covers just 2,000 square feet and includes a stone pergola, making it an ideal fishing or boating hideaway.

While traditionally associated with tropical paradises, these UK islands bring a unique twist to private island ownership.

Eilean Loch Oscair may not offer a pub or lighthouse, but its untouched beauty, abundant wildlife, and agricultural potential create a distinct appeal.

Rent a Cotswolds Island

SPENDING the night on a private island is something that only seems possible for celebrities.

But a private island in the heart of the Cotswolds offers exclusive stays anyone can book.

Located in the middle of a water-skiing lake in Oxfordshire, The Island is available as a holiday rental for people who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of normal life.

The lake is divided into two halves, with one side dedicated to an array of watersports while the other is home to therapy rooms.

Holidaymakers can fish from the island – although swimming is not permitted because of the water-skis.

The stylish home can sleep 16 people and even has the space for an extra six guests, for an additional charge.

There are eight double bedrooms as well as a huge dorm room that’s been designed with both adults and kids in mind.

One of the rooms even comes with its very own little roof terrace where guests can soak up the views.

The property comes with five bathrooms, which means there will be no competing for a shower among guests.

There are plenty of other rooms too, including a huge kitchen, a large dining room, a family room and another little kitchen area.

The Island property comes with its very own bar complete with a bluetooth-compatible jukebox.

Other amenities include a hot tub, a pool table and two small boats.

Stays on The Island start from £3,000, based on 14 guests staying for a minimum of three nights.

Two drivers, who are over the age of 25 and hold a valid driving licence, are needed to visit The Island.
