Scania UK Hits 60

0

On the 14 December 1964 Scania-Vabis (Great Britain) first appeared on the register of companies in the United Kingdom.

The following year it offered a factory tour in Södertälje for British haulage luminaries such as Ken Beresford of Stoke-on-Trent, John Smillie of Glasgow and Fred Robinson of Stockton-on-Tees to ignite interest.

In 1967 Scania imported an initial batch of trucks, and set up three dealerships; WWS Commercials of Hemel Hempstead, B&W Motors of Wolverhampton, and Reliable Vehicles (Scotland) in Renfrew.

The rest, as they say, is history…

Today, the fundamentals of service have changed little as it gets set to mark its 60th anniversary. David Craik spoke with the regional director for Scania Scotland Paul Smith to find out more.
