Six students injured after five school buses, truck crash on I-10, police say
LAFAYTTE, La. (KLFY) -- Six students were taken to an area hospital after five school buses and a truck pulling a band trailer were involved in a collision Tuesday afternoon on I-10, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
According to a news release, police were dispatched to the major vehicle crash just before 12:50 p.m. The crash occurred on I-10 westbound at mile marker 103B.
Police said six students suffered minor to moderate injuries.
"The crash occurred as a result of one of the buses colliding with the rear of a bus in front of it, creating a chain reaction with the rest of the buses," Lafayette police said.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice. This report will be updated when information becomes available.
