Albany man arrested after police chase, crash

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man is facing multiple charges in two Capital Region cities after police said he fled from an officer and later crashed the vehicle.

Watervliet police made a traffic stop Tuesday evening for a vehicle with stolen license plates. Police said the vehicle initially pulled over, but then drove off toward Troy.

The officer ended the chase out of safety concerns, police said, but the fleeing vehicle crashed into multiple occupied vehicles, including a CDTA bus in the city of Troy. It came to a stop at the intersection of Federal and 6th.

The 21-year-old driver was taken into custody. No injuries were reported. He is facing multiple charges in both Watervliet and Troy.
