At least 36 dead after bus falls into a gorge in northern India

LUCKNOW, India: At least 36 people were killed and several others injured when a poorly maintained and overcrowded bus veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in northern India this week.

Deepak Rawat, a senior state government official, said the accident occurred in Almora district in the mountainous state of Uttarakhand. The bus had 60 passengers, and more than 20 were injured.
