Harris wins Maine's statewide electoral votes
Vice President Harris has won Maine’s statewide contest, netting her two Electoral College votes, according to a Decision Desk HQ projection.
Maine distributes its four electoral votes based on both the statewide result and the winner of each of its two congressional districts. The statewide winner gets two, and each congressional district winner gets one additional vote.
Maine is generally considered a blue-leaning state, and Harris’s victory is not a surprise. The state’s 1st Congressional District is solidly Democratic, while the 2nd Congressional District is considered more up for grabs.
The state did get a bit close in 2016, when Hillary Clinton carried it over former President Trump by only about 3 percentage points, but President Biden won it by 9 points in 2020, more in line with recent Democratic victories there.
