Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals Paternity-Test Results
And now for an Election Night palate cleanser: Gypsy Rose Blanchard revealed the results of a paternity test for her baby on Tuesday. Blanchard announced back in July that she is pregnant, naming her ex-fiancé and current boyfriend, Ken Urker, as the father, complete with a couples photo shoot and a nine-minute YouTube confessional. But some fans grew suspicious over the timing of the pregnancy, given Blanchard had filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson, in March, just four months prior. To that, Gypsy Rose says: Nice try, suckers.
“There’s been a lot of chatter around the paternity of our baby and while we’ve known for sure from the beginning, I feel that it’s finally time to put all these theories to rest,” she captioned a screenshot of a paternity test on Instagram. “Here are the results showing Ken is the father. Ken is going to be an incredible dad and we are so excited to welcome our baby girl into the world.”
While some commenters were quick to point out Blanchard didn’t need to justify her private business to them, People reports that the paternity test helps to clear up some technicalities under Louisiana law. State law requires that if the mother has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of the baby’s birth, the ex-husband would be listed as the “presumed” father. Which means, without certified results, that Anderson could have been listed on the baby’s birth certificate by default, according to a Louisiana attorney who spoke to the outlet.
So there’s that! What a fun and totally unremarkable day to celebrate fatherhood in America.
