Pine Prairie will have a new police chief
EVANGELINE, La. (KLFY) -- Pine Prairie will have a new police chief.
According to the Louisiana Secretary of State website, candidates Gilbert J. Bordelon and Shane Guillory will go to runoffs, Dec. 7.
Incumbent Police Chief L.C. Deshotel has served the village's police department for 30 years, EvangelineToday.com reported. Running against four other candidates, Deshotel only collected 11% (49) votes in his favor, making him second to last.
Deshotel was arrested Monday by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office on accusations of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and obstructing public passages. That is not his first DWI arrest. He was also arrested and charged with DWI in early 2023.
Per the Louisiana Secretary of State, here are the results of the police chief race:
- Gilbert J. Bordelon - 122 votes
- L.C. Deshotel - 49 votes
- Joey A. Fontenot - 35 votes
- Shane Guillory - 155 votes
- Joshua Uhlman - 68 votes
