Election night 2024: Portland city council election results

0

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Early election results are out for Portland's city council race.

Three winners will be declared in each district of Portland's four districts. As of 8 p.m. Tuesday, the following candidates are leading their respective districts:

District 1

District 2

District 3

District 4

After years of planning and preparing for the City of Portland’s transition to a new form of government, voters are set to elect 12 city council members and a new mayor in the November general election.

Under the new city charter, each of Portland’s four newly established districts will elect three city council members. Including the city’s crowded mayoral field, there are more than 100 city council candidates on the ballot this election. Of those candidates, Commissioner Dan Ryan is the only current City Council member.

Portland’s reformed city charter also establishes a new ranked-choice voting system. The system requires multiple rounds of results, which could take weeks to tally, local election officials say.
