Taking a Look Juan Soto Free Agency Odds
The sweepstakes for Juan Soto have officially begun. With free agency open, the process of potentially landing the superstar is live and running. Will Soto return to the New York Yankees? Could Steve Cohen bring him to the New York Mets? Will Dodgers pair Soto up with Shohei Ohtani?
DraftKings has released their odds for which team Soto will sign with this offseason. Here are those odds.
- New York Yankees -225
- New York Mets +380
- Los Angeles Dodgers +650
- Toronto Blue Jays +1500
- Chicago Cubs +1500
- San Francisco Giants +1800
- Boston Red Sox +1800
- Washington Nationals +2500
- Seattle Mariners +2500
- San Diego Padres +2500
Those are great odds for the Yankees. The Mets, naturally, are the next big players, followed by the Dodgers and Blue Jays, who have been trying to land an A-list fish for a couple of offseasons now.
At this point, it’s tough to call how Soto’s free agency will play out. For a while, the feeling was that he would re-sign with the Yankees after a long and successful 2024 season in the Bronx. But his comments after the World Series suggest no team has an advantage in the quest to sign him—including the Yankees.
That bodes well for the Mets, who have a lot of money coming off the books. Don’t forget about the Dodgers, who are always in the mix for the biggest free agents. Soto is going to get at least $600 million over an unknown amount of years.
How many teams would be willing to give that much money to one player? Who knows. That is what makes the pursuit of Soto so fascinating. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
