‘My craziee birthday baby…’, KL Rahul’s romantic post on wife Athiya Shetty’s birthday goes viral

Team India batter KL Rahul’s wife and Bollywood star Athiya Shetty celebrated her 32nd birthday on November 5. Athiya shares her birthday with Rahul’s teammate Virat Kohli, who is turning 36 on Tuesday.

Rahul, who was dropped from the Indian side for the last two Tests against New Zealand, came up with a romantic post for his wife on Instagram which soon went viral. The former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain posted pictures of himself with his wife Athiya Shetty and captioned the pictures, ‘My Craziee birthday baby’.

The post soon got nearly 1.2 million likes on Instagram, within one hour. Rahul was not retained by his franchise LSG on IPL 2025 Retention Day last week. The Indian batter has led LSG since their inception in 2022 and guided them to the IPL Playoffs twice. However, LSG chose to retain Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi and Mayank Yadav as their capped players.

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty tied the knot on January 23, 2023, in an intimate ceremony held at Bollywood star Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala. The wedding was private, attended only by close friends and family.

The 32-year-old Indian batter is set to leave for Australia early with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel ahead of India’s five-Test series against Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy starting on November 22. Rahul and Jurel are expected to turn out for India ‘A’ under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad for the second an final four-day match against Australia ‘A’ at the MCG from November 7.

He was dropped from the Indian Test side after scores of 0 and 12 in the first Test defeat to New Zealand in Bengaluru last month. India went on to lose the three-Test series against New Zealand 3-0 – their first-ever whitewash at home in three or more Tests.
