Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate in the U.S. election, pledged to “use all her power to end the war in Gaza.” In her latest campaign rally in Michigan, she sought to capture the attention of Muslim and Arab-American voters.

Michigan has approximately 240,000 registered Muslim voters, many of whom supported Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

However, some Arab-American and Muslim voters in this state are dissatisfied with the Biden-Harris administration’s unwavering support for Israel in the conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

On Sunday, Harris addressed these voters, stating, “As President, I will do everything possible to end the war in Gaza, ensure the safe return of hostages, alleviate the suffering of Gazans, secure Israel’s safety, and guarantee the rights of Palestinians to dignity, freedom, security, and self-determination.”

She also emphasized at Michigan State University that she intends to “begin a new era, free from fear-based and divisive politics.”

In response, the Democrats have launched a widespread social media campaign to dissuade voters from supporting Stein and Cornell West, an independent candidate critical of Israel.

Harris’s pledge to address the Gaza conflict may appeal to Muslim and Arab voters concerned about U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. Her commitment to a more inclusive America and departure from divisive politics also aims to unify voters across diverse communities, emphasizing shared values and mutual respect in a polarized political landscape.
