Election Day is (finally) almost here, and the Kamala Harris campaign is pulling out all the stops to invigorate Pennsylvania voters. That includes a huge rally in Philadelphia where stars like Oprah, Lady Gaga, Jazmine Sullivan, and the Roots are scheduled to amp up the crowd. Sounds fun! The effort includes a Katy Perry performance at a Pittsburgh rally later today. Sounds … well, if she’s going to sing “Woman’s World,” then that doesn’t sound like a great omen.

Perry has had a rough year, what with her disastrous album rollout leading to an equally disastrous musical product, so I don’t really need to kick her when she’s down. She has probably been itching to perform “Woman’s World” at a Harris event for months. “See? I was right, it is a woman’s world and we’re lucky to be living in it,” she’s probably told Orlando Bloom several times since Harris became the Democratic candidate. That being said, her performing her notorious flop–of–a–Girl Power anthem in a swing state mere hours before the election is giving me flashbacks to 2016, when Perry sang “Roar” at the DNC. We all remember how that went.

Maybe Perry has learned her lesson and will just sing one of her other empowerment anthems. She already sang a dramatic version of “Firework” at Joe Biden’s inauguration, so that’s out. That leaves, um, “Swish Swish?” Maybe “Dark Horse?” Perhaps Team Harris should just play it really safe and ask her to sing “America the Beautiful.” Or “Teenage Dream” — everybody loves that one.
