Citizen's Latest Watches Use Satellites To Keep Perfect Time

0

If you’re wondering what separates Citizen from the other three- and four-figure watch companies out there, it comes down to proprietary technology. And there are few places that can be better seen than the Japanese watch brand's two new Eco-Drive satellite wave GPS*1 F950 models from its Attesa line.

For Citizen, the Attesa line is where it showcases its latest technologies, which include everything from surface hardening technology that treats solid titanium to utilizing natural or artificial light sources that remove the need to replace batteries. Heck, it even includes the fastest satellite signal reception in the world for an analog light-powered GPS satellite wave watch. All of these innovations and more are visible across these latest two F950 models.

The two new timepieces, the CC4059-64L and CC4074-61W, both feature sleek cases with city initials carved into their surrounding bezels. The CC4059-64L, with its blue-violet stripes and sapphire bezel, looks to bring to mind outer space (or a classic pinstripe suit), while the letters littering the bezel sparkle with a reflective silver. The CC4074-61W, however, utilizes a pink-gold for those same initials, while the dial itself is a glimmering black.

Both watches’ cases and bracelets are made from Super Titanium, the previously mentioned proprietary surface hardening tech used to treat solid titanium. The brand notes that it “is at least five times harder than stainless steel, resistant to scratches, lightweight and gentle to the skin for comfortable wearing.”

Citizen’s F950 movement, meanwhile, is known for being the ultimate when it comes to light-powered Eco-Drive satellite wave GPS watches. They can receive tune signals in just three seconds, and can receive signals from satellites orbiting the Earth just about wherever you are.

It is to be noted that both these watches come in on the large size, measuring 44.6mm in diameter and 16.0mm thick. Both are also priced at $2,195.
