Ex-India selector gives verdict on Rohit Sharma before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Former Indian selector Kris Srikkanth believes that skipper Rohit Sharma is going to take over some obstacles as India will play against Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Srikkanth stated that Rohit will announce his retirement if he fails to perform well. Though, he also clarified that it is too early to talk anything about Kohli in this format.

Concerns have risen about role of Rohit in the Test team after India lost the series 3-0 to New Zealand. He has been seen struggling in the whole series, as he totalled in on just 91 runs.

“100 percent, you have to start thinking ahead (if India doesn’t do well in Australia). If Rohit Sharma doesn’t do well, I think he himself will retire from Test cricket, for all you know. He will play ODIs only. He has already left T20I cricket. We have to keep in mind that he is also ageing. He is no longer getting younger,” Srikkanth said in his YouTube show.

After the match, Rohit accepted that he was so far from his best as both a batter and a leader. This marked the first time for India to have lost a Test series of more than two matches without a single win.
