Trash collection, alternate side parking on Election Day: What to know

0

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Election Day is fast approaching in New York City, which will mean changes to municipal services.

There will be no trash, compost or recycling collection in the city on Tuesday, according to the Department of Sanitation. Collection will resume Wednesday, but delays should be expected.

Alternate side parking will be suspended on Tuesday, meaning drivers can disregard parking signs posted for street cleaning. Parking meters will still require payment on Election Day. Drivers still must obey other parking signs and regulations, according to city officials.

Students will not have school on Election Day, according to the Department of Education.

Early voting is already underway in New York ahead of Tuesday’s election, and polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day. New Yorkers will weigh in on local races for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and one statewide ballot question.
