'People will say...': £54m Man Utd star opens up about 'most disappointing' aspect of the season after Chelsea clash
Manchester United and Chelsea shared the spoils after a cagey Premier League encounter today.
The fixture was a drab affair as both teams lacked quality in the final third.
Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot in the second half, but Moises Caicedo equalised within five minutes. The Portuguese said he was desperate to score.
He told BBC Sport: “Everyone knows how much I wanted the goal to come. I need to help the team with goals and assists.
“It’s been one of the most disappointing things this season – but I got some in the cup. Now scoring in the Premier League. It was a lot of disappointment in the dressing room. We could have won the game.
“Not much has changed. In midweek, the goals went in.
“I told some friends that everything would come to us and that people would say we wanted the manager (Erik ten Hag) to be sacked. We need to be disappointed because we’re far back in the league.”
United are 13th in the table after drawing with Chelsea. With 12 points in 10 games, they have recorded their worst start to a league season since 1986-87.
Ten Hag has been sacked, but several players need to look at themselves in the mirror.
Fernandes has been the standout player for the club since he arrived in 2020. However, the £54 million-rated star has been abysmal this season.
The manner of his celebration showed how emotional he was to get off the mark in the league.
However, he must deliver once Ruben Amorim takes over as manager.
