OKC Mayor discusses damage after destructive tornadoes

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KFOR)—After the devastating tornadoes that struck early Sunday morning, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt spoke about recovery efforts.

"I spoke to one man cleaning up his partially destroyed home. He told me that "God is good," because none of his family were harmed. And indeed, we are grateful no one was killed. But a lot of lives have been impacted," said Mayor Holt.

The damage done so far as of 1:30 p.m. Sunday includes significant amounts. The city reported that assessment teams reported around 39 structures destroyed, 43 with major damage, and 54 with minor damage.

The mayor Sunday mentioned that the Winwood Free Will Baptist Church had been gathering and distributing donations of food and water.

That is not all, the Red Cross has started setting up throughout hard-hit areas in central Oklahoma.
