Patriots Players Awe-Struck After Highlight-Reel Drake Maye Moment
Drake Maye turned heads when his acrobatic touchdown pass to Rhamondre Stevenson to send the New England Patriots to overtime against the Tennessee Titans.
New England may not have gotten the win against the Titans, but multiple Patriots pass-catchers know what a special talent they have in their rookie quarterback.
“Guy’s special, man,” Henry told reporters, per team-provided video. “The way he competes, the way he plays, the way he continues to fight. I’m excited to continue to go out there and continue to play with him. He’s very special. He’s got a lot of talent. He’s only going to get better, learn from those situations, learn from those experiences. Proud of him, proud of his fight.”
Henry added: “I got a front-row seat to it and it was pretty special.”
“Drake making that impressive, long-sustained play, was impressive,” Kendrick Bourne told reporters, per team-provided video. “Just proud of the guys. … A good drive, encouraging drive, to show us who’s playing hard and where we need to keep growing.”
Even Maye’s defensive teammates that sharpen him in practice sang his praises after the energizing moment for the Patriots.
“That’s Drake,” Christian Gonzalez told reporters, per team-provided video. “Nobody was surprised. Honestly, Drake does stuff like that all the team. He fought and did all he could. Proud of him and happy for him.”
Maye and the Patriots face a fellow rookie in Week 10 when they visit Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.
