Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors tip off a five-game road trip beginning with Saturday night’s matchup against the Houston Rockets. The game is scheduled for 5:00 PM PT in Houston and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State completed the sweep of the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, putting on a defensive clinic to beat them, 104-89. The Warriors stifled the Pelicans’ star duo of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, holding them to a combined 26 points — a drastic drop from their combined 61 points just one night prior.

Draymond Green anchored the defensive effort, recording five blocks, a steal, and four rebounds, in addition to his offensive contributions of 14 points and six assists. After the game, he said the vintage performance stems from his desire to return to an All-Defensive First Team and Defensive Player of the Year level.

What to watch for tonight:

The Warriors are another step closer to full strength with Andrew Wiggins expected to return to the starting lineup on Saturday night. While Stephen Curry and De’Anthony Melton remain out, the team announced that both are making good progress on their respective injuries and are nearing a return to practice.

In the meantime, Golden State will need their depth to step up once again against this young Houston team led by Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun. Green leads the Rockets with 27.6 points per game, while Sengun, the team’s leading rebounder, has averaged 12.4 rebounds and scored 30 points during his most recent matchup against the Warriors a year ago.

Tonight’s game will be a good test for the Golden State. They’re currently the league’s top team in net rating and will play against a Rockets team who come in at seventh in this category. Having said that, the two teams differ significantly in pace: Golden State ranks 12th, while Houston sits near the bottom at 27th. Expect the Warriors to try and dictate pace by playing fast to speed up the Rockets, getting them away from their methodical offensive approach.
