Ten Hag finally breaks his silence following Man Utd sacking, shows true colour with message to fans

0

Erik ten Hag has broken his silence and sent a message to Manchester United fans after he was sacked on Monday.

The Dutchman was relieved of his duties after a poor start to 2024-25, with the 2-1 Premier League loss to West Ham United on Sunday proving to be the final straw.

Ten Hag has since been replaced with Ruben Amorim, with the 39-year-old Portuguese set to arrive later this month and oversee his first game in charge of Man United against Ipswich Town after the international break.

Ten Hag left the Red Devils with two trophies and he has now sent a message to the supporters via SEG on X (formerly Twitter).

The former Ajax boss was in charge of 128 games between May 2022 and October 2024, winning 70 times, drawing 23 and losing 35 games.

He is the fifth permanent manager to be shown the exit door since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all suffering the same fate.

Ten Hag will now look to prove himself elsewhere after failing to turn things around at Man United despite being given the chance to last summer.

Amorim has a big job on his hands, and the 39-year-old has to show that he has what it takes to take the Red Devils to the pinnacle of English and European football once again.

He has won it all domestically in Portugal across his spells with Braga and Sporting Lisbon, and he now has to prove himself in the toughest league on the planet.

The Portuguese has an incredible 71.09% win ratio across all four spells as a manager having won 182 out of the 256 games he has managed, losing 37 and drawing the other 37.

However, the Premier League is a different ball game and all eyes will now be on Amorim going forward after he accepted one of the toughest jobs in the game.
