Shelter in place ordered in Damascus as police search for possibly armed suspect

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Residents in Damascus are told to shelter in place Friday afternoon as law enforcement search for a possibly armed suspect in the area, according to authorities.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said officers attempted to stop a vehicle near SE 222nd Drive and Bohna Park Road when the driver “eluded and officers and crashed before running from the car.” 

Deputies surrounded the area and called for a SWAT team to search for the suspect, who is believed to have a gun, officials said.

Officers are asking people to avoid the area between SE 222nd Drive between Bohna Park Road and Tillstrom Road.

Residents in the area should shelter in place and others should avoid the area as of 1:30 p.m.
