When Amorim’s first game as Man Utd boss will be after agreement as announcement date revealed - report
Ruben Amorim’s first game as Manchester United manager will be at Ipswich Town in the Premier League on November 24.
Sporting CP are expected to announce today that they have reached an agreement to allow the 39-year-old to become Man United’s new boss, according to The Telegraph.
They are also expected to announce that Amorim will remain in charge for their next three games and join the Red Devils during the November international break.
Man United have agreed to pay compensation to Sporting for Amorim and his backroom staff. They will also compensate Sporting for allowing him to leave without fulfilling the required 30-day notice period.
The release clause is €10 million, but the Red Devils are paying an additional €2m to release his assistant coaches and remove the notice period.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in charge of Man United when they take on Chelsea, PAOK Thessaloniki and Leicester City.
His interim reign started well last night as the Red Devils strolled to an impressive 5-2 victory over the Foxes to book a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
However, the future of the assistant manager turned interim boss is far from guaranteed, as Amorim could come to Old Trafford with up to five staff members.
Assistants Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro, goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital and fitness coach Paulo Barreira are all likely to join him.
Van Nistelrooy may have no choice but to move on despite his desire to remain at the club.
However, winning the next three games convincingly could boost his chances of convincing Amorim that he could be a valuable member of the coaching staff.
