During the Lakers' game against the Cavs, Anthony Davis was hobbling due to a jammed hip, but says it won’t stop him from playing during this current road trip.

The only thing worse than a blowout loss would be an injury happening during the defeat.

With the Lakers getting trounced by the Cavs 134-110, one of the many alarming aspects of the game was the movement of Anthony Davis. He appeared to be hobbled, walking gingerly up and down the floor. He kept reaching towards his side and grimacing while playing through whatever discomfort he had.

After the game, AD explained that he tweaked his hip during the first quarter. He was able to play the rest of the way, ending the night with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

For those worried about how this might impact AD’s status for the other three games left in this road trip, he seemed pretty adamant it wouldn’t be an issue.

“A little sore, kind of like jammed it, but I’ll be fine,” Davis said. “It’s just bothered me throughout the course of the game. But it’s not going to stop me from playing.”

Any injury to Davis will make fans nervous. Even if he says he’s fine and played through it, this is something to note, especially with his history of hip injuries.

Last season, Davis struggled with a hip/groin injury that resurfaced throughout the year. He initially suffered the injury in November against the Heat and it was described as hip spasms.

But the injury did linger and he eventually missed a game against the Rockets as a result. He admitted he had to play through pain even weeks later.

The good news is that was an injury to his left hip and it was his right hip he was grabbing on Wednesday. The better news is that he wasn’t even listed on the team’s injury report ahead of Friday’s game in Toronto.

For now, it’s not something that will keep him out of action for the Lakers, thankfully. But it is something to monitor in the short term if it resurfaces in the coming days or weeks.
