Person dies in Thursday afternoon Calcasieu Parish hit-and-run
WESTLAKE, La. (KLFY) -- A person was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in Westlake this afternoon, and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for your help.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at approximately 2 p.m. today to the 2600 block of Miller Avenue, near Smith Ferry Road, in Westlake in reference to a person in the ditch.
When deputies arrived they found a man dead in the ditch. Detectives believe this incident to be a possible hit and run, officials said. The coroner has yet to determine cause of death.
The investigation is in the early stages and more information will be released once it becomes available, authorities said. The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
