Cobbler League Concludes with a Thrilling Finale for 40+ Young Sailors
Sunday, October 27th, marked the finale of this year’s month-long Cobbler League. Drawing sailors from Monkstown, Dunmore East, Kinsale, and Lough Derg, the league showcased over 40 tough and talented Optimist sailors racing in the challenging 2024 series. Race Officer Stephen O’Sullivan and a large team of volunteers managed an impressive sixteen race series, across Regatta and Main Fleet, with close finishes keeping the competition intense across all fleets. Each Sunday, sailors not only battled it out on the water but were also welcomed back with hot chocolates, creating a warm end to a demanding day and underscoring the spirit of camaraderie that defines this series. This year’s Cobbler League served as a true test of skill, resilience, and determination, pushing these young sailors in every condition thrown their way. With the official club racing season closing, RCYC now shifts focus to its winter performance coaching program, ready to build on the energy of this unforgettable series.
