Supreme Court justice often viewed as Dems' bogeyman gifts them 'Halloween treat': report
A conservative Supreme Court justice — often viewed as the bogeyman on the left — just handed them a "Halloween treat," according to Politico.
Samuel Alito denied Cornel West's request to alert voters in Pennsylvania of his independent bid for president, reported Josh Gerstein. He had asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to force polling sites to post signage informing voters he is a write-in candidate.
"But Alito squelched that Thursday without comment," according to the report.

The small smackdown could be a boon for Democrats in the battleground state, which polls have shown is tied between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. In a razor-thin race, the report called the decision a gift for the left, as third-party candidates can have an outsized impact on tight elections by drawing votes away from major party candidates.
West has supported progressive policies that could appeal to some liberal voters and siphon votes away from Harris.
Alito previously signaled that he's ready to retire, but only if there's a Republican in office.
