TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas Governor Laura Kelly cast her vote early ahead of the General Election on Wednesday.

Kelly took the trip to the Shawnee County Elections Office to cast her vote early on Oct. 30 in the days leading up to the Nov. 5 election. 27 News caught up with the governor to ask her what her thoughts are on this year's election cycle so far.

"I think there is a lot of energy and excitement around the races this year, I think Kansans understand we have a real opportunity to go back to the kind of governance that was bi-partisan," Kelly said.

Voters are turning up early for this year's General Election in record numbers. The Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell told 27 News earlier in the week that thousands of voters are turning up in the days before Nov. 5.

People have until noon on Monday, Nov. 4 to vote early. For more information on voting in Kansas, head over to the Secretary of State's website.
