'Very early' election night signal can tell if Harris is on track to win Georgia: analyst
Although it may take a while for final results to be tabulated in many swing states on election night, one elections analyst has flagged a key signal about whether Vice President Kamala Harris is in a good position to win Georgia.
Writing on Twitter, Split Ticket analyst Lakshya Jain gave his followers a pointer about what to look for in the Peach State next week.
"You can get a pretty good signal very early on election night on whether Kamala Harris is winning Georgia," he said. "Look at Baldwin and Washington counties. Both are more rural — if Harris wins both, she's likely getting the rural Black turnout and margins needed to win the state."

Jain then added a qualifier that Harris could still win Georgia even if those two counties weren't hitting their turnout targets.
"I do want to be clear: Harris can win the state without that, of course, but if you're looking for a good 'blue alert' type of signal in 2024 in a non-Atlanta county, that's a pretty good one," he explained.
President Joe Biden in 2020 flipped Georgia from red to blue by narrowly defeating former President Donald Trump by under 12,000 votes.
Trump would infamously go on to call Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and ask him to "find" the votes he needed to overturn Biden's win.
