State trooper shot on Southern State Parkway on Long Island: officials
WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) – A state trooper was shot on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island late Wednesday night, according to officials.
It happened near Exit 17, which is West Hempstead, around 11:45 p.m. The suspect fled the scene in what was believed to be a black Dodge Charger with a New Jersey temporary tag that reads: 997636T.
The car was described as having custom matte gray dual exhaust tips, officials said.
The Southern State Parkway going westbound was shut down near Exit 18 as officials investigated.
