Community gifts Cohoes baseball announcer World Series Tickets
COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) — David Lancier can be described as the Yankees' biggest fan, so it surprised him when the community rallied around him with tickets to Tuesday night's World Series Game 4 in which the Yankees pulled off a comeback victory.
“A few days ago all I was supposed to do was a championship volleyball match at the high school for phys ed. Little did I know I was shocked by getting these tickets,” said Lancier
The gift was organized by a now adult little league player Jeff Huneau — whose games Lancier used to call — and Yankee Trails Travel Agency of whom Lancier was a frequent passenger.
“I've been traveling with Yankee Trails now for 12 years. I'd like to know how they knew I did 122 Yankee trips" Lancier explained.
If David’s hundreds of trips, or his proudly worn cap and jersey don’t underscore his love of the Bronx Bombers, he can pull team memories out of a hat
"I love the Yankees since they last one this title in 2009 with that great team of Jeter and Sabathia” Lancier recalled.
Overall for the baseball fan, he won’t forget seeing in person his favorite team make an astounding comeback with that grand slam home run…to stay alive in the World Series.
“I felt like this might start the road to come back and be the first team ever to come back from 3-0 to win the World Series,” said Lancier. “I loved it. This community even though there's many bad things in this community, but I'm grateful that they do things good sometimes as well".”" The Yankees fan continued.
Lancier tells me that he doesn't want to attend any more Yankees games so he doesn't jinx their chances of winning the World Series.
