Topeka Zoo closes early due to storms

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo and Conservation is closing early due to expected severe weather on Wednesday.

The Topeka Zoo announced on social media just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 30 that it is closing early due to expected storms. The decision was made out of caution for the animals, staff and visitors.

"We appreciate our animal care staff that have remained on grounds to ensure our animals are in a safe, secure area to ride out today & tonight’s storm."

People can expect to hear more from the zoo regarding damage or other changes to its schedule through social media. The zoo plans to be open on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of its regular hours.
