Opelousas man convicted of 2022 murder, faces life sentence

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- An Opelousas man faces life in prison after being convicted of second degree murder Friday, prosecutors said.
Jaleel Malik Durisseau was found guilty in the 27th Judicial District Court Friday of the murder of Corey Rosette, Jr. Rosette was found shot dead in his home on Nicole Lane in Opelousas Feb. 14, 2022 by family members after they had not heard from him since Feb. 11.
Prosecutors established Durisseau’s guilt with the help of GPS data, cell phone records and various witnesses' testimony, according to District Attorney Chad Pitre.
Durisseau will be sentenced Nov. 14. Second degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life without probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
