'Really worried': Gary Neville says Man United man is 'asking for trouble' after West Ham defeat

0

Manchester United suffered their fourth defeat of the Premier League campaign against West Ham United on Sunday.

West Ham broke the deadlock in the second half through Crysencio Summerville.

Casemiro equalised with a smart header but a controversial late penalty helped the Hammers to take home three points.

Gary Neville reacted to United’s 2-1 loss at Sky Sports: “He’s asking for trouble Erik ten Hag. He’s 14th in the league, nine games in. That’s 25 percent of the season gone.

“I always think that anybody that’s half-decent, that can play, will beat this United team.

“I don’t think there can be another defeat next Sunday at Old Trafford. I genuinely don’t.

“I think it’s getting to that point now where there is a real worry. It’s getting to that point where it’ll become unbearable, the pressure in this next week or two around Erik ten Hag.

“Just purely the position in the league, they are 14th. Manchester United, I mean, it’s Manchester United. He can’t be 14th in the league. He can be after one or two games, maybe, but not after nine, not after ten.”

Defear against Chelsea could end Erik ten Hag’s Man United stay

The Red Devils have two home games in the next seven matches – a Carabao Cup tie against Leicester City and a Premier League clash with Chelsea.

A win against the Foxes may not ease the pressure on Ten Hag, but a defeat could push him to the brink of dismissal.

As Neville pointed out, the clash with Chelsea is highly pivotal to the Dutchman.

Another defeat on Sunday could force INEOS to part ways with him.

The former United captain is absolutely right in saying that United cannot be in 14th place after a quarter of the season has passed.

The defeat against Hammers is not down to Ten Hag. The players missed several clear-cut chances, and a shambolic call from the referee added to United’s woes.

However, they are not in 14th place because of one defeat. The season has been atrocious, and Ten Hag is skating on thin ice.
