Williams Tallies Two Hits; Gilbert Continues Hot Stretch In AFL Action

0

On Saturday, the Scottsdale Scorpions took on the Surprise Saguaros in Arizona Fall League action. In that game, the New York Mets had two of the eight prospects they sent to the AFL play. Those being Jett Williams and Drew Gilbert.

Jett Williams tallied two hits in Saturday’s game. He went 2-for-4, with two singles, while also striking out twice. Williams now owns a .238 batting average and .802 OPS through 51 plate appearances in AFL action. However, he does lead his team in strikeouts (16) while only having eight walks.

Elsewhere, Drew Gilbert had a hit. He went 1-for-4 with a strikeout. Gilbert has been playing much better in the AFL as of late; he is now five for his last 14, rising his AFL average from .083 to .184 and his OPS from .404 to .759 over that stretch. Gilbert, encouragingly, has more walks than strikeouts and has flexed his power; four of his seven hits are extra-base tallies. It was a slow start to the AFL for Gilbert, but he has turned it on as of late.

Williams was Metmerized’s No. 1 prospect in the post-draft update while Gilbert was MMO’s No.-3 ranked prospect. Williams and Gilbert, along with their six other Mets prospects playing for the Scottsdale Scorpions, will see their AFL schedule continue through November 16.
