The Golden Driller statue was built by an oilfield supply company in 1953 for a tradeshow at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds. Over the years that company built three of these statues.This third one stands at 76' tall. He was designed by George S. Hondronastas, a Greek immigrant to Tulsa. He is made of steel and concrete and weighs nearly 22 tons.The Golden Driller is dedicated to the men of the petroleum industry.I am a photographer, educator, mentor & photo tour guide.If I have to classify my work it’s mostly fine art photography.
