CNN busts Trump campaign manager for deleting posts critical of ex-president's Jan. 6 lies

CNN is reporting that Trump campaign manager Chris LaCivita has deleted posts that he promoted on his Twitter account that condemned the MAGA assault on the United States Capitol building.

According to CNN, LaCivita on January 6th, 2021 promoted a post from former President George W. Bush condemning the attack and also slamming Trump's lies that inspired his supporters to carry it out.

“I am appalled by the reckless behavior of some political leaders since the election and by the lack of respect shown today for our institutions, our traditions, and our law enforcement,” read the statement by Bush that LaCivita retweeted. “The violent assault on the Capitol – and disruption of a Constitutionally-mandated meeting of Congress – was undertaken by people whose passions have been inflamed by falsehoods and false hopes.”

What's more, LaCivita also liked a post from former Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA), who called on Trump's cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove him from office before he could do any further damage.

The Trump campaign manager also promoted a report about a text message sent by a Republican senate aide that read, "This is a disgusting tragedy. Someone literally lost their life because of a lie that Trump told, Cruz/Hawley capitalized on, and fringe media echoed. This is in no way shape or form sustainable."

On top of all this, CNN found that LaCivita deleted a tweet he promoted that labeled the January 6th rioters as "thugs."

In response to the report, LaCivita dismissed the significance of his past social media activity.

“Retweets and likes are not endorsements. I’m focused on winning the election two weeks from now, and not distractions from CNN,” he said.
