Top-50 prospect Cam Ward commits to Tom Izzo, Michigan State

One of the most talented and versatile forwards in the country, Cam Ward, has committed to Michigan State, he announced live to 247Sports.

Ward — the 6-foot-7, 210-pound four-star power forward from Largo (MD) and the Team Durant Nike EYBL AAU program — chose Michigan State over Kansas State, Maryland and Virginia.

Why did he choose Michigan State?

“Just coach [Tom] Izzo being a family guy, he’s always been the guy for me,” Ward said. “He says I remind him of a lot of the athletic pros he has in the league like Draymond Green, Miles Bridges, players like that. So just trusting him to get me there and produce another wing at a pro level.”

This summer playing for Team Durant, Ward was a force, especially during Peach Jam. The forward led all PIT scorers with an average of 23.4 points per game and had two 30-point outings. He also shot 65.6% from the field and 3-of-10 from beyond the arc across seven games.

“Cam is my guy he is just a winner, does whatever is needed to give his team an advantage,” Ward’s AAU teammate Acaden Lewis told ZAGSBLOG. “Off the court me and him have been cool all year. We always talk whether its about clothes, girls or hoops. He just my guy and he’s going to be great at his school.”

Izzo and the Spartans now have two players ranked in the top-55 of the 2025 class. Ward joins four-star small forward Jordan Scott.
