Lindor Finalist for NL Outstanding Player Award
Francisco Lindor is one of three Players Choice Award finalists for the National League Outstanding Player Award, the Major League Baseball Players Association announced Monday.
Lindor will be competing with Shohei Ohtani and Marcell Ozuna for the honor, which is decided exclusively by a vote of the players in late September.
The shortstop finished the ’24 campaign hitting .273/.344/.500 and slugged 33 home runs, 91 RBIs, 39 doubles and stole 29 bases. He had a career-high OPS+ in 2024 (138), a fWAR of 7.8 (ties career-high) and a wRC+ of 137 (career-high).
Finalists in the following categories were announced for the awards, which have been handed out since 1992:
- Player of the Year: Aaron Judge, Ohtani, Bobby Witt Jr.
- Outstanding Player American League: Judge, José Ramírez, Witt Jr.
- Outstanding Player National League: Lindor, Ohtani, Ozuna
- Outstanding Pitcher American League: Emmanuel Clase, Logan Gilbert, Tarik Skubal
- Outstanding Pitcher National League: Chris Sale, Paul Skenes, Zack Wheeler
- Outstanding Rookie American League: Wilyer Abreu, Colton Cowser, Austin Wells
- Outstanding Rookie National League: Jackson Chourio, Jackson Merrill, Skenes
- Comeback Player American League: Garrett Crochet, Chad Green, Tyler O’Neill
- Comeback Player National League: Rhys Hoskins, Jurickson Profar, Sale
- Marvin Miller Man of the Year: Max Fried, Hoskins, Steven Kwan, Pablo López
- Curt Flood Award: Scott Sanderson, Dave Winfield
- Philanthropist of the Year: Hoskins, Brent Suter, Jose Trevino
The Marvin Miller Award goes to the player “whose leadership most inspires others to higher levels of achievement,” the MLBPA said. The Curt Flood honor goes to a living or deceased player who showed a commitment to advancing players’ rights.
Winners will be announced during the FOX pre-game show ahead of Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday.
