Here's How Much a World Series Ticket Costs This Year
The stage is set for a bicoastal showdown for the 2024 World Series. The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers will face off for the championship title starting Oct. 25, if you want to attend any of the games in New York or L.A. in person, be prepared to cough up quite a bit of cash.
According to ticket sales site Gametime, the cheapest ticket for the opening game at Dodger Stadium on Friday currently sits at $1,209. It's a similar story on SeatGeek, where the best ticket deal is $1,216 a pop. Game 2 is even more expensive, with top deck Gametime tickets running $1,260 each and SeatGeek selling for $1,264. The numbers continue to climb with each game. Needless to say, expect any Game 7 tickets to cost more than your rent.
It'll be a highly anticipated battle between two powerhouse teams from the biggest cities in the U.S. Last month, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani made history as the first MLB player to score 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season; the team ended the regular season with 98 wins and 64 losses, the best record in the league this year.
The Yankees have similarly had a spectacular season thanks to heavy hitters like Aaron Judge, notching 94 wins and 68 losses this year. This year marks the 12th time in history the Dodgers and Yankees have faced off in the World Series and the first time since 1981.
“It’s kind of what the people wanted,” Dodgers player Mookie Betts told the MLB of the matchup. "It’s what we all want. It’s fun. A battle of two good teams, a lot of long flights across the country, but that’s what makes it fun."
The Yankees' Aaron Judge echoed a similar sentiment regarding himself and Ohtani, the two biggest names in the sport today, going head-to-head in their first-ever World Series. "That’s what it’s all about," Judge said. "That’s what you grind all season for—for moments like this. It’s something special."
It all starts Oct. 25 at 8:08 p.m. ET.
