Martha Stewart and Ina Garten used to be besties, but it seems that they have a falling out along the way. The Barefoot Contessa addressed her side of the story in her recent memoir, Be Ready When Luck Happens, and now, Stewart can finally give her opinion on what happened to their friendship.

Andy Cohen asked the 83-year-old lifestyle guru if she had read Garten’s book on the Sunday, Oct. 20 episode of Watch What Happens Live.

“Have you read Ina Garten’s memoir yet?” Cohen asked. Stewart claimed to have only read “parts” of the book.

“You read the parts about yourself?” the late-night host continued. “What was your take?”

Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart attend the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards at Cipriani South Street on November 29, 2023 in New York City.

She said confidently, “She can write whatever she wants.” That’s when Stewart’s ride-or-die BFF jumped to her defense.

“I didn’t read the book, what does it say?” Snoop Dogg asked. He was in the clubhouse to celebrate his 53rd birthday while Stewart was the bartender for the evening.

“Ina said that they fell out because she moved to Connecticut,” Cohen chimed in. Stewart doesn’t believe Garten’s side to the story because she feels like her former friend left her in the cold when she “went to jail” in 2004 after being accused of insider trading. She was found of four counts of obstruction of justice and lying to investigators and went to prison for five months.

Snoop proved he would be with Stewart to the very end and quipped, “Martha don’t fall out with people. That’s when I stepped in.

“Right, there you go,” added Cohen. “When one friend goes out the door, another friend comes in the door.”

The Sports Illustrated SI model has been adamant that Garten didn’t speak to her after her legal issues. “When I was sent off to Alderson Prison, she stopped talking to me,” Stewart claimed to The New Yorker earlier this month. “I found that extremely distressing and extremely unfriendly.” There’s one thing both women agree upon though with Stewart’s publicist telling the outlet that “there’s no feud.”

Stewart’s former friendship goes back to the early ’90s when they met in Garten’s famed (and now closed) Barefoot Contessa show in East Hampton, New. York. “My desk was right in front of the cheese case, and we just ended up in a conversation,” Garten told Time in 2017. “We ended up actually doing benefits together where it was at her house and I was the caterer, and we became friends after that.”

Perhaps the constant press over this mess will reunite the women, but we have a feeling that Garten is going to have to extend the olive branch to Stewart — just a hunch.
