Taylor Swift Is BFFs With Dave Portnoy Now
One of the things Taylor Swift is best at is making a confounding decision. Remember that time she wore a leather harness backwards over a “Fight Song” tank top? Bizarre. How about those couple of months when she was head over heels for Matty Healy? Odd. Now, she’s done it again. In a truly baffling decision, Swift has decided to be friendly with … Dave Portnoy?
Yes, that Dave Portnoy. The same one who once wrote, “I never condone rape, but if you’re a size six and you’re wearing skinny jeans, you kind of deserve to be raped,” and then defended it as a “funny joke.” The man who created Barstool Sports is a major Swiftie, and it seems the feeling is mutual. Portnoy attended the Eras Tour in Miami over the weekend and says he received a handwritten letter from Swift (complete with a “13” wax seal), hand-delivered by her brother, Austin.
“I’m so happy to have you at the show tonight,” Swift wrote on her own personalized stationery. “I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when a lot of people didn’t.”
What is she talking about?, you may be wondering. As far as I can tell, she’s referring to the fact that Portnoy — a proud Donald Trump supporter — did not immediately disavow his favorite pop star when she announced she was voting for Kamala Harris. How big of him.
As the king of the Swifties people are asking me what I think of her Kamala endorsement. I don't care at all. People can vote for whoever they want in this country. How somebody votes will never change my opinion of a person. I'm voting the other way but to each their own

Portnoy, 47 and a millionaire several times over, responded to Swift’s kind gesture with a video in which he put a young woman on blast for saying Swift and her team didn’t want to associate with El Presidente. “Is she the gatekeeper of the Swifties? Listen, I want to keep this positive. Even if I wanted to ban her from future concerts, I could probably call Tree [Paine],” Portnoy said. “I could probably be like, ‘This girl who made this rant about me? Get her out.’”

Instead, Portnoy “took the high road” because that’s what “Taylor would want.” To him, the high road means downloading a video of his hater and splicing it into his own video so his millions of fans can see her face and user name. They probably won’t do anything weird with that information, right? Wisely, her TikTok page is now private.
With only a few weeks until the election, which Trump supporter do we think Swift might embrace next? Brittany Mahomes — who liked and unliked a Trump post on Instagram over the summer — wasn’t a shock. Portnoy was surprising not only because of his odious personality and the overtly misogynistic culture at Barstool but because in recent years he has faced allegations of sexual misconduct. The next one will probably be even more galling. Maybe Rudy Giuliani will be in the VIP tent at the New Orleans shows.
